CenterStage Theatre Company is excited to announce auditions for The Wizard of Oz!

Directed by Jeanie Balch

This is an exciting musical based on the much loved 1939 MGM movie. This
production will showcase both “experienced” musical theatre performers and those new to this wonderful world of music and theatre!

All auditions are either individual by appointment or in our new group workshop/audition format.

Actors must be in 4th-12th grades to be eligible to audition. If cast, tuition fees and costume fees apply. Performances tentatively scheduled for April 11-15, 2018.   All roles will be double cast to the extent that we are able. We look forward to meeting you at auditions!

If you have any questions about auditions, you can email Jeanie Balch at jeanie_balch@comcast.net.  Audition dates are Sunday, December 10,  Friday, December 15 and Saturday, December 16 at the CenterStage Studios at 901 Front Street, Louisville, CO  80027. Callbacks will be held as needed on December 17.    Once you sign up for an audition slot you will be sent our audition form to complete and bring to your audition or you may email it back to Jeanie Balch.

Individual Auditions:
To schedule an audition, visit http://bit.ly/wozauditions to sign up for a time slot. Audition times are first-come, first-served so we recommend signing up early. CenterStage reserves the right to request that you move your audition time if needed to consolidate auditions. All auditioners will be considered for all roles in the show.

What to prepare for Individual Auditions:
Sing approximately 32 bars of an uptempo musical theatre song that shows off your range and positive energy for the primary audition. Those interested in the role of Dorothy may also perform 32 bars of a ballad.  PLEASE DO NOT SING A SONG FROM THE SHOW. Bring sheet music in your key; an accompanist will be provided. A CD or MP3 track with accompaniment only is also acceptable (though not preferred), provided it is edited and cued correctly. Please bring your own device to play electronic music. No a cappella auditions. There may also be cold readings from the script and a short dance audition.  Please dress in comfortable clothing and wear shoes that allow you to move.  You can bring a résumé of your onstage experience and training  or you may write this on our audition form.  Please bring a headshot (if available – this does not have to be a professional photo). Digital photos of all actors may also be taken at the auditions. Please bring a list of all potential conflicts including school events, work, travel, etc. for the time period January 16-April 15. Any conflicts with the posted schedule must be discussed with the Director and agreed to before casting can be confirmed.

Group workshop/audition:
This is a great option for those new to musical theatre or primarily interested in ensemble work.  You won’t have to stress by waiting in line for your turn!  We will meet as a group (10 participants in each group) to get acquainted.  Then we’ll learn some music from the Wizard of Oz and work on some fun choreography.  If time allows we will do some dialogue work.  Auditioners will have the opportunity to sing the music on their own or with backup from the group!  No advance preparation is needed.  All auditioners will be considered for all roles in the show.  Please visit http://bit.ly/wozauditions and sign up in a group audition slot.  The focus of the workshop/audition will be either on Munchkin Ensemble or Oz Ensemble (see descriptions below).

What to bring to Group auditions:
Please dress in comfortable clothing and wear shoes that allow you to move.  You can bring a résumé of your onstage experience and training  or you may write this on our audition form.  Please bring a headshot (if available – this does not have to be a professional photo). Digital photos of all actors may also be taken at the auditions. Please bring a list of all potential conflicts including school events, work, travel, etc. for the time period January 16-April 15. Any conflicts with the posted schedule must be discussed with the Director and agreed to before casting can be confirmed.

Rehearsal info:  In general, rehearsals will be Monday or Tuesday 4:30-6:30pm (depending on cast and role), Friday 5-8pm and Sunday afternoons.
