FAA Hosts Upcoming Workshops for Metroplex Project

Post Date:04/17/2019 11:08 AM

New strategies and technologies in air traffic management are contributing reasons why the airspace surrounding Denver area airports has been identified for Metroplex development. The Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA's) proposed Denver Metroplex project would allow for more direct and efficient routing of aircraft into and out of Denver and surrounding airports; thus enhancing aviation safety and reducing flight delays. The Denver Metroplex project is a federal action under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

The FAA is completing an Environmental Assessment pursuant to NEPA. The Draft Environmental Assessment is anticipated to be released April 22, 2019. As part of this review, the FAA will hold 12 public workshops at multiple locations around the Denver Metro area beginning April 29. The workshop dates, locations and address information is contained on this webpage. Residents of Denver and the surrounding areas are encouraged to attend the public workshops.

A 45 day public comment period from April 22, 2019 through June 6, 2019 will be available within which to submit comments on the Draft Environmental Assessment. Additionally, the FAA will provide updates on the Denver Metroplex project website with information regarding the Draft Environmental Assessment and the public workshops. The project website is located at: http://www.metroplexenvironmental.com/denver_metroplex/denver_introduction.html.

The public workshops will run from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and will be open-house format, where attendees can arrive anytime during the posted times. The workshops will include displays of the proposed aircraft flight procedures. Subject matter experts will be available to answer questions you may have and assist you in providing the FAA feedback on current airspace concerns. The comment period is from April 22, 2019 to June 06, 2019. The FAA will also post all workshop materials to the project website. Comments can be submitted at the workshops or through the FAA's project website during the comment period at: https://www.faa.gov/nextgen/nextgen_near_you/community_involvement/den.
