The Louisville Cultural Council presents the South Platte Syncopators. Enjoy this upbeat ragtime orchestra as they play music published between 1910-1930, taking you back to days of long ago when life was simpler and the music made you tap your toes!

The South Platte Syncopators is part of the MCC Jazz Ensemble formed in 2009 through a collaborative effort between Morgan Community College and the local community who wished to strengthen Fort Morgan’s identity as the boyhood home of bandleader Glenn Miller. Under the direction of Ron Pflug, the Jazz Ensemble performs throughout the Front Range; including, Denver’s KUVO radio, the State Capitol, Glenn Miller Festival in Fort Morgan, and the annual Big Band Festival in Estes Park. In addition to achieving regional notoriety, the Jazz Ensemble has been nationally-recognized for its unique approach to community partnership.

Ernst Lubitsch was one of the most subtle comedy directors in early Hollywood, whose perfect use of reactions, objects, wry incidents and off-screen space was eventually called “The Lubitsch touch.” He changed the direction of comedy with this sophisticated, cleverly told story of the battle of the sexes, which belongs more to the world of Woody Allen and Wes Anderson than to Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin.

The Marriage Circle is a comedy of misplaced attraction, centered around two married couples in Vienna. Professor Stock wants a divorce, and his wife Mizzi wants the excitement of illicit romance. When Mizzi decides to seduce her best friend's husband, it livens up all of their lives in ways none of them expect. This was a ground-breaking comedy, with humor derived from reactions and adult situations.

A score compiled from historic photoplay music will be performed by pianist Rodney Sauer.

Known for their artistic sensitivity and exuberant stage presence, the award-winning Antero Winds have been attracting attention worldwide as a talented and engaging young international woodwind quintet. The Antero Winds began their work together as the Arundo Winds, the graduate woodwind quintet in residence at the University of Colorado at Boulder. While serving their Rocky Mountain community, the Antero Winds have also traveled the world to perform, compete, and educate, always striving to present performances that are as interesting and satisfying to music connoisseurs as they are to those with little prior experience with classical music. The distinct backgrounds, personalities, and styles of the quintet’s members combine to create the Antero Winds’ signature blend and performance style.

During their years as the Arundo Winds, the quintet won first prize at the Plowman Chamber Music Competition and a silver medal at the prestigious Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. In 2008, they were the only U.S.-based semi-finalists at the International Chamber Music Competition in Lyon, France. Individual members of the group have also won numerous prizes at solo competitions worldwide.
