About the Program

The Check Out Colorado State Parks Program is officially underway at the Louisville Public Library. The program, which is the result of a partnership between Colorado Parks and Wildlife and the Colorado Department of Education State Library, provides the Library with two hang-tag park passes and adventure backpacks filled with information and education activities.

Important Update: Thanks to user feedback, the program has been renewed for another year—from April 1, 2017 through March 31, 2018.

How the Program Works

  • The Louisville Library has two backpacks for check-out.
    • The catalog record shows the total for all member libraries in the Flatirons Library Consortium (Louisville, Boulder, Broomfield, Lafayette, Longmont, Loveland).

  • Check-out is for one week.

  • A backpack can't be renewed or put on hold.

  • Only residents of Louisville or Superior may check out a backpack; backpacks are not available for inter-library loan.

  • Backpacks are available at the Adult Reference desk on the second floor; they must be checked out and checked in at the Adult Reference desk.

What's in the backpack?

  • Current State Park park pass hang-tag
  • Set of binoculars
  • Colorado Wildlife Guide
  • Colorado Trees & Wildflowers Guide
  • Your Guide to Colorado's 42 State Parks brochure
  • Leave No Trace front country reference card
  • Activity idea list
  • Program evaluation sheet
