Visits for Schools and Child Care Centers

Please schedule preschool, child care center, or school class visits with the
Children's Librarian AT LEAST 2 WEEKS PRIOR to your visit.

To arrange for group visits, call 303-335-4821 or e-mail to Children's Services.

Baby story time supports early literacy and language skills in infants and babies by encouraging singing, playing, talking, and shared reading. Join us for fun, stories, and snuggling! 

A parent or caregiver is expected to accompany each child.

Storytelling comes alive with puppets, music, finger plays, flannel board stories, drawing stories, and rhymes! This program is designed to support early literacy skills in preschoolers, as well as to encourage them to love books at an early age. 

A parent or caregiver is to remain in the Library during story time.

Age guidelines: birth to 18 months

 

Baby Story Time is a lap-sit story time aimed at babies from birth through early walkers. The focus is on bounces, rhymes, songs, and exploring short books together. Baby Story Time is meant to facilitate interaction between you and your baby.

Toddler Story Time is ideal for walkers and new talkers. We are working on sitting through two short books with lots of songs, rhymes, and movement in between. The focus is on interaction with the stories, rhymes, and songs—with your participation as a model.

Preschool Story Time is aimed at children with longer attention spans who can sit through several books. Story Time includes rhymes and songs. The focus is on nurturing a love of books, stories, and the library.

A parent or caregiver is to remain in the Library during story time.
  • Age ranges are a guideline
    • We encourage you to choose the story time that is best for your child's stage of development.
  • Due to very crowded story times, we ask that you choose one age range of story time to attend.
    • Siblings are welcome to story time.
  • Please help your children participate according to guidelines so that story time can be a positive experience for everyone.
  • Please let us know how we can better accommodate any special needs.

These story times will be limited to 60 attendees each. Tickets for these story times will be available at the Children's desk starting at 10:00 every Thursday morning.
