You are invited to come and see the proposed design plans for medians in Louisville!
The City of Louisville is in the process of beautifying and making other improvements to the medians on major City streets. You are invited to join us on Thursday, July 11th at 7:00pm for a presentation of the median landscape plans by the design contractor, Design Concepts. This presentation will take place at the Parks and Public Landscaping Board (PPLAB) monthly meeting located at the City Services Facility.
The purpose of this project is to:
- Create a consistent theme for each street
- Replace outdated irrigation systems
- Replace and/or enhance landscape materials
- Reduce maintenance needed to maintain median landscaping
At this meeting PPLAB will be reviewing the plans and making recommendations to define future direction and next steps. The public is invited and encouraged to attend. There will be time allocated on the agenda for public comments. Phase I is scheduled to begin this fall and includes Cherry Street, McCaslin Boulevard and Via Appia Way.
History: The majority of the medians within the City were developed and landscaped 20 to 30 years ago. Renovations were recommended due to, outdated irrigation systems, plant material replacement needs, and in many cases the concept or landscape theme is not consistent throughout the same boulevard. The first Public Meeting was held on July 19, 2018 at the Louisville Library. Funding is available in 2019 and also in 2020 which is contingent upon Council appropriation of funds. Phase I is scheduled to be completed in Fall 2019 and consists of Cherry Street, McCaslin Bouldevard and Via Appia Way. Phase II is scheduled for Spring of 2020 includes Dillon Rd, South Boulder Rd and Summit View Drive at Hwy 42. For questions or comments please contact Allan Gill at firstname.lastname@example.org.
