Education & Outreach

Our Open Space is a very special place for all to enjoy. The Rockies provide a beautiful backdrop and we can hike and observe nature close to home.  Our educational programs are free and there is something for everyone from the young to the young at heart.  Observe bugs, paint vistas, or try to stump the Rangers with a question and increase your enjoyment of, and appreciation for, Louisville’s natural areas.

Learn to Navigate

When:  Thursday, November 21st from 6:00 to 7:30 pm

Where: Louisville Library Meeting Room, 1st floor (951 Spruce St.)

Appropriate Audience:  Ages 12 and up

Description: A fun venture into the backcountry can quickly become a nightmare if a hiker becomes lost. Outdoor navigation skills are vital for any trip; Today’s technology and GPS units use advanced technology to assist in navigation, but can fail in the backcountry. Join a Ranger Naturalist and learn some wilderness navigation techniques to re-orient yourself and get home safely in the event that you become lost.

Please RSVP through Eventbrite or by visiting our Facebook page “Fans of Louisville Open Space and Parks” and click on the event you wish to attend to obtain a free ticket.  You can also register by contacting staff at or 303-335-4770.
