Polly is a local Louisville author and Professor of Media & Ethnic Studies at CU-Boulder. She will speak about her new book, Remembering Lucile: A Virginia Family’s Rise from Slavery and a Legacy Forged a Mile High. In 1918, Lucile Berkeley Buchanan Jones became the University of Colorado’s first female African American graduate (though she was not allowed to "walk" at graduation, nor is she pictured in the 1918 CU yearbook). This event is cosponsored by the Louisville Cultural Council and the Louisville Historical Museum.
Doors Open at 2:30 pm.
