Drinking water update

Post Date:07/29/2024 12:41 PM
The City of Louisville staff are diligently working to address the taste and smell changes some residents have noticed in their drinking water. Rest assured, these changes are purely aesthetic, and the water remains safe to drink. This temporary issue is caused by seasonal changes in our water supply and increased water demand. To resolve this, we have implemented the following measures:
  • Adjusting water supply sources and treatment processes
  • Increasing water sampling
  • Conducting localized flushing of water mains
As we continue these efforts, the taste and smell of the water should return to normal. The City regularly tests the water to ensure it meets all safe drinking water standards, and our staff are conducting additional monitoring to expedite the return to normalcy. We will keep you updated as new information becomes available. If you have further questions, please call 303-335-4790.
