Why 50 Books in first grade?

We built this new reading initiative to motivate your child to read throughout first grade.

The program starts at the beginning of the school year and ends in May.  Stay tuned for details.

First graders can register.

We can help you find books that are just right for your child.  Stop by the Children’s Desk and ask us about our books for beginning readers or fill out this We Browse for You form.

Prizes are given for reading 30 books and for reading 50 books.

Upon registration, your child will be automatically entered into a raffle for their photo to be featured on an “I’m Reading” poster in the Children’s area.

Please revisit this page for updated information on 50 Books in First Grade for the 2020-2021 school year.
