During the Safer-at-Home order the Louisville Public Library will continue to be closed to the public. Curbside Holds Pick-Up is available by appointment and drop-in, Wednesday – Friday 11 am to 6:15 pm and on Sunday’s from 1 to 5 pm. The drive-up book drop, in the Via Artista alley on the west side of the building, will be open from 1 pm Sunday through 6 pm Friday. Donate Books & Media

The Library appreciates and gladly accepts donations of books and audiovisual materials, such as movie DVDs and books on CD. Based on resource and space limitations, we are able to accept the following:

Two medium-sized boxes* of recent materials from any individual:

  • CDs
  • DVDs
  • Fiction (no more than five years old)
  • Non-fiction (no more than five years old)

We are unable to accept the following, also due to space and resource limitations, as well as demand for these items:

  • videocassettes
  • audio cassettes
  • text books
  • magazines
  • technology books older than 3 years
  • other books older than 5 years
Please bring your donations to the Circulation Desk in the Lobby. You will receive our thanks and a tax receipt for your donation.

If you have more donations than we can process, there are businesses near the Library that accept used books. Please note that the Library can't answer questions regarding donation policies and limits that may exist at these businesses. We suggest that you contact them beforehand.
