Social Story We Wear Masks

Is your preschooler ready to embark on a road full of fun and learning?  The Louisville Recreation Center offers a state-licensed part-day preschool September to May.

Building Blocks and Stepping Stones are fun and nurturing classes for 3, 4, and 5 year-olds to play, learn, grow and socialize at their own pace. The Building Blocks and Stepping Stones part-day preschool programs (classes are M, W, F and meet for two hours and 45 minutes) are designed to meet the academic, social and physical needs of youngsters by providing a stimulating, safe and healthy environment. Lessons are fostered through play at this young age to develop a love of learning. Small classes promote social, emotional, fine and gross motor, cognitive and language development. The positive atmosphere increases self-esteem, creativity, risk taking and problem solving abilities and encourages the development of new ideas and new friends.

Your child will have access to both indoor and outdoor facilities of recently expanded and renovated Louisville Recreation & Senior Center, providing an expanded number of options for your child. Our new youth learning area offers floor to ceiling windows with mountain views, plenty of space for learning stations, an outdoor learning area, and bathrooms for student use. Our teachers have backgrounds in early childhood or elementary education and experience working in a preschool classroom setting. They are educated professionals who provide a well supervised and stimulating learning environment for your children. Licensed by the State of Colorado.

Comments from our families:

"We LOVE this program! My child is going to miss this preschool and all of her AMAZING and CARING teachers!"

"One of my favorite parts of the program is the teachers. This is my favorite part because of their patience, knowledge, good curriculum and compassion, professionalism."

"We love, love, love the Rec Center Preschool Program! It has been great for our kids - they are enthusiastic about school and learning in general. It has been such a positive experience on so many levels. We shall miss the program terribly as we are "graduating" out of it."

"We just had our parent-teacher conference for... our child's... kindergarten yesterday, and were told that she has adjusted well and started the year more proficient than a mid-year kindergartener. Pass that on to the preschool teachers- your program did her well!"

"To sum up how I feel about the Louisville Rec Center's preschool program is that it is unbelievable. As both a parent and a former teacher with a graduate degree in Elementary Education I was quite worried that because of the program's low cost that it would be a "you get what you pay for " situation. I was completely wrong! The program is a perfect balance of educational and play based program. I am shocked at how much education the teachers pack into the fun and exciting lessons. My youngest child absolutely loves going to class every day and I continue to be amazed by the activities they do. The only regret I have is not sending my oldest to this program when she was going to school."

Medications (Prescription or Over the Counter)

Use the following forms ONLY if your child will need medication DURING school hours. It is best to arrange to take as many medications at home as possible as we do not have a nurse on staff.

One form per medication.

No medications in school without correct forms signed by both parent and doctor and medication in the original labeled container (Epi pens may be in their plastic tube with pharmacy label on the outside- this is our preference as it makes them much easier to transport- thank you!).

Please make clear to your physician that they are filling out the forms for a lay person (staff member), NOT a nurse. They must be very clear and black and white with their directions as staff are not able to make any medical decisions.

Please read each explanation to make sure you fill out the correct form.

Detailed instructions from our Nurse Consultant.

Allergy Action Plan is used for severe allergies and Epi Pens
*Request your doctor prescribe diphenhydramine if you want flexibility to select Benadryl, Equate or a generic

Asthma Care Plan is used for any inhaled medications to include albuterol inhalers

Medication Administration is used for all general medications

Refusal to Provide Medication is used if your child has a noted medical condition, but you choose not to send any medications to preschool.
