City of Louisville Website Accessibility Statement
Our commitment to accessibility
The City of Louisville is committed to improving the accessibility of our websites. We’re working to provide equitable access to our services for all Louisville residents, businesses, and visitors.
We are working to make sure our website meets Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1 AA), and all applicable state and federal laws. We appreciate your patience through this ongoing process.
What we’ve done so far

Quarter 1, 2024
- Through a partnership with a vendor specializing in digital accessibility, conducted an accessibility audit of City of Louisville websites.
- Identified Accessibility Champions in each department. These staff will conduct accessibility remediation work on their departments' respective sections of the City website.
- Created a short-term policy to reduce the amount of inaccessible content on our website. We’ve created this policy to make sure that staff are not creating new content that does not meet our standards.
- Identified content that needs to be remediated. Our Accessibility Champions will remediate content like PDFs, images, and videos.
- Created a system for tracking remediation work.
- Evaluated all vendors and 3rd party platforms to make sure these tools meet accessibility standards.

- Improved our accommodation request process.
- Began conducting content audits of our website and identifying content to remediate.
Next, we will be:
