Why It Matters
Transportation is one of the largest sources of climate pollution in the U.S. and here in Louisville. Electric vehicles (EVs) offer a cleaner, quieter alternative to fossil fuel-powered vehicles, helping to reduce local air pollution and cut our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
As our electric grid becomes increasingly powered by renewable energy over time, switching to an EV can be one of the most impactful steps you as an individual or business owner can take to support a healthier, more sustainable future here in Louisville.
What is an Electric Vehicle (EV)?
EVs are cars, trucks, buses, and other vehicles that run fully or partially on electricity rather than gasoline or diesel. There are two main types:
EVs are becoming increasingly affordable thanks to lower maintenance costs, expanded charging infrastructure, and more incentives than ever to help people make the switch.
What We’re Doing
We're working to make EVs more accessible by expanding both our public and internal EV charging infrastructure. We also partner with Xcel Energy, Partners in Energy, and other organizations to support the implementation of EV-friendly incentives.
