 What We’re Doing

Step 2: PURCHASE. Now that you’ve mapped out your opportunities, it’s time to choose and install your equipment.

Home Energy Efficiency

Before going electric, make sure your residence can hold heat well. Sealing air leaks, upgrading your insulation, and/or installing high-performance windows can improve your comfort and lower energy use

Electric Appliances

Replace any fossil fuel-powered appliances with electric alternatives, such as air source heat pumps, heat pump water heaters, or induction stoves. Talk to an electrician if you are unsure whether these appliances require a higher-capacity electric panel

Electric Vehicles

Thinking about an electric vehicle (EV)? Compare models, charging options, and incentives to find the best fit for your lifestyle and budget. Many EVs can also charge from a standard outlet already at home.

Renewable Energy

Pair your upgrades with clean energy. Incorporating additional renewable energy can help you further reduce your greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Popular options include rooftop solar and/or solar subscriptions, discussed further in Step 3: Perfect & Refine.

Behavior Change

Practice behaviors at home and/or purchase items that reduce or shift your energy use. Check out some easy, energy saving tips here. It can be as simple as keeping your oven door closed while food is cooking, or even purchasing a new furnace filter!
