Home MenuAt-Home Waste Reduction
Why It Matters
Everyone in Louisville plays a role in creating a cleaner, more sustainable community. Reducing what we send to the landfill saves resources, lowers greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and supports a circular economy that benefits us all.
What We're Doing
We offer a variety of programs to make waste reduction easy and accessible for you:
- Curbside composting & yard waste: Weekly pick-up turns food scraps and yard trimmings into nutrient-rich compost.
- Curbside recycling: Our single-stream recycling program keeps valuable materials in use.
- Specialty disposal programs: Safely get rid of items like prescription medications and scrap metal.
Get Involved
You can reduce waste and give resources a second life by also participating in local reuse and drop-off programs:
- Resource Central Pick-Up: Donate usable renovation materials from your curb.
- Recycle Row: Drop off hazardous waste, electronics, furniture, and more.
- Fresh Food Connect: Share extra garden produce with local hunger relief programs.
- Boulder U-Fix-It Clinic: Learn how to repair items instead of throwing them away.
