Why It Matters
Pollinators are vital to Louisville’s natural and urban ecosystems. They help plants reproduce, keep gardens vibrant, and support the production of fruits, vegetables, and other crops that sustain our food systems. Healthy pollinator populations also contribute to biodiversity and ecological resilience, ensuring our community thrives in the face of environmental change.
What We're Doing
Pollinator Pathways Demonstration Gardens
Louisville has created two Pollinator Pathways demonstration gardens to showcase our pollinator-friendly landscaping that you can replicate at home!
- White House Demonstration Garden at 717 Main Street
- Arboretum Demonstration Garden at Eldorado Lane
City-wide Demonstration Gardens
Our dedicated Horticulture Team manages 22 annual beds and 270 perennial and shrub beds across Louisville. These vibrant, colorful, and diverse plantings are maintained with pollinator health in mind, offering beauty for Louisville residents and habitat for insects.
Bee City USA Certification
We're proud to be the third city in Colorado to earn a Bee City USA certification. This reflects our ongoing efforts to reduce herbicide use in weed management, expand pocket prairies with pollinator-friendly plantings, and educate residents about pollinator conservation.
