 Why It Matters

Understanding where trees are and where they’re needed most is essential to building a more resilient canopy. This data helps us target our tree planting efforts to reduce urban heat, improve air quality, manage stormwater, and ensure that all neighborhoods share in the benefits of our trees.

 What We're Doing

We joined Boulder County and neighboring municipalities in working with PlanIT Geo, an urban forestry software and consulting firm based in Arvada, CO. Together, we developed a comprehensive analysis of our current tree canopy, as well as planting opportunities across Boulder County where planting can have the greatest positive impact.
