Why It Matters
Our tree canopy is vital for keeping our community cool and healthy on a day-to-day basis. Trees also strengthen our resilience to climate risks and extreme weather events, such as high heat days and flooding. Building awareness of all the benefits our tree canopy has to offer helps ensure it will thrive for generations to come.
What We're Doing
We partner with PLAY Boulder and Boulder County to grow and care for our urban forest through two key programs:
Community Forest Corps (CFC)
Each summer, youth crews work alongside forestry and environmental professionals to plant and care for trees, focusing on communities most impacted by high temperatures, poor air quality, and flood risks.
Tree Trust
Tree Trust provides funding, education, and resources to expand and sustain Louisville’s urban tree canopy. Through connection and empowerment, the Tree Trust helps Louisville residents care for trees in our neighborhoods and ensure long-term canopy growth.
Get Involved
- Support the next generation of environmental leaders by staying in the loop here with the CFC.
- Donate to or volunteer with the Tree Trust to directly grow Louisville and other surrounding municipalities' tree canopies.
