Why It Matters

Most of Louisville’s air pollution and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions come from cars and trucks that run on fossil fuels. By rethinking how we get around, whether it's by car, bus, bike, or on foot, we can create a cleaner, healthier, and more people-friendly city.

 What We're Doing

We focus on two key topic areas within transportation right now:

  • Electric vehicles (EVs): Louisville is expanding EV access for both residents and City operations.
  • Mobility and safety: We’re making it safer and easier to walk, bike, and roll across Louisville.

 Get Involved

Want to lower your transportation impact? Here are some ways you can get started:

  • Drive electric: Switching to an EV can help reduce GHG emissions and improve local air quality.
  • Ride transit: Using public transportation helps cut traffic congestion and local pollution. Check our bus schedules to see how transit can fit into your daily routine.
  • Walk and bike: Walking and biking are good for the planet and your health. Explore Louisville's trails, bike lanes, and walking routes to make your trips active.
  • Try multimodal: Mix it up! Combine options like biking to a transit stop, carpooling, and/or using ride-share services to reduce solo car trips.
