2026 Board and Commission Vacancies
Apply by November 3 to be on a board or commission in 2026!
Are you interested in volunteering for your community and bringing your point of view to help the City form policy? Serving on a Louisville board or commission is a rewarding way to give back to your community and make a lasting impact. Your participation is an opportunity to share your passion and expertise to help shape Louisville's present and future.
Special skills are not required for most boards, but the following skills are valuable assets:

What you should know about serving on a board
- You must be a Louisville resident to serve on a board or commission.
- City employees may not serve on boards or commissions.
- Most board terms are three or four years in length and begin in January 2026.
- All positions are voluntary, and most boards require a commitment of only one meeting per month. A few boards require more time either preparing for meetings, attending events, or other outside work.
- If you are appointed to a board, staff will provide training on how the board functions within the City's processes and how the members participate.

- Parks & Public Landscaping Advisory Board (3 positions)

You must be a Louisville resident to serve on a board or commission. City employees may not serve on boards or commissions.
2026 Application Process
- First time applicants must submit 1) a general application AND 2) a supplemental questionnaire for each board to which you are applying.
- Those applying for reappointment must submit 1) a general application AND 2) a reappointment self-assessment form.
- You may apply to as many boards as you like.
Application deadline is November 3.
