Public Art in Louisville

Public Art is artwork owned by the City of Louisville or on loan to the City that is placed on public property for all residents and visitors to enjoy. The City passed a new Public Art Policy in 2018. Read the Public Art Policy for more information about the criteria for new public artwork in Louisville and the Louisville Cultural Council's role in evaluating artwork.

Current Public Artwork Proposal: Original piece by Robert Romero

The Louisville Cultural Council is currently accepting public comment on a proposed public art installation. The Louisville Cultural Council will discuss this piece and vote on whether or not to commission and install this artwork at their upcoming meeting on Thursday, November 21, 2019. Meeting will take place at 6:30 pm at Louisville City Hall, 749 Main St, Louisville CO 80027.

  • Robert Romero

    Artwork Description:Artist Robert Romero will create an original, site specific sculpture in the style of his piece pictured here.

  • Artist: Robert Romero

  • Type of Artwork: Stainless Steel Sculpture

  • Size:approximately 8 feet tall

  • Location: Existing sculpture pad in the Community Park Sculpture Garden (Northeast corner of 955 Bella Vista Dr., Louisville, CO)

  • Cost: $15,000, paid by the City of Louisville through funds budgeted for Public Art

  • Lifespan: (anticipated): 50+ years

  • Maintenance: quarterly cleaning at a present cost of $300 annually, paid by the City of Louisville. (anticipated)


Public Comment Period: November 6-20, 2019
