Chad Root, Building and Life Safety Code Official

Chad was born in Boulder and grew up in Niwot, CO. He attended Colorado State and graduated from Ft. Lewis College in Durango. He has been a Building Inspector in Ouray County, a Building Official in Gunnison, Wheat Ridge, Mountain Village/Telluride, and was the Building/Fire Code Official in Park City, Utah.  He is grateful to be back in Boulder County working in the area where he grew up close to his family. Chad wants the Department of Building and Life Safety to be as consistent and transparent as possible. He believes the function of the department is to protect life safety and protect one of the largest investments that most individuals make: their home.

Randy Dewitz, Building Inspector

Randy was born in Chicago and went to high school in Desplains Ill. He attended Western Illinois University until he moved to Denver in 1979 to enjoy the weather, hunting, fishing, and skiing that the mountains offered. He spent 25 years managing single family, multi-family, and commercial construction projects, and has worked for Louisville since 2003 as a building inspector/plans examiner.

Jon Harman, Building Inspector

Blessed with good fortune, Jon was born in the best city, greatest state, and most incredible country in the world…Boulder, Colorado, USA. During his younger years, Jon mowed lawns and worked construction. For fun, he raced motorcycles, rock climbed, and wrestled. Later on in life, he worked as an electrician from the 1980s-2000s. Currently, Jon lives in Berthoud, CO where he enjoys jogging, photography, inventing, and watching the X-Files and the Minnesota Vikings.

Eleanor Maralit, Plans Examiner

Eleanor was born in New Jersey and spent a majority of her childhood in Illinois before moving to Lakewood, Colorado. She attended the University of Colorado at Boulder where she studied Environmental Design. Eleanor enjoys strolling through local craft fairs, trying out new restaurants, and spending time at the boxing gym. She currently resides in Lafayette and is excited to be a part of the Louisville Building Department team.

Julie Burgener, Building Permit Technician

Julie was born and raised in Powell, Wyoming. After attaining Colorado residency, she attended and graduated from Colorado State University. She has worked part time for the City of Louisville since 2012 starting at the Recreation Center.  In January of 2017, she moved to the Planning and Building Safety Department full time. Julie enjoys working with the contractors and homeowners, ensuring they get their permits and/or inspections in a timely manner. When not working, she loves spending time with her family, hiking and fishing.

Liz Schettler, Senior Administrative Assistant

Liz was born and raised in Oklahoma. She graduated from Rogers State University and moved to Louisville in 2016 with her husband. Liz has loved living in Colorado, specifically in Louisville, where she enjoys riding her bike into downtown, getting Sweet Cow ice cream with friends, going to the rec center to play racquetball, and driving around to see all the unique homes that reside in the City. She has been working for the City since February of 2017. Her favorite part about working here is helping and getting to know all the residents that live in Louisville. She also loves the small town feel and charm that the City brings to its community.
