Nonna's Famous Sauce

Due to its proximity to the train tracks, Front Street early on bustled with social and commercial activity. At one point, there were about 13 different saloons and restaurants on Front Street! Imagine coming into town to pass the time at a watering hole like DiFrancia’s Saloon (home today to 740 Front) but don’t forget, one of Louisville’s first ordinances limited how long you could leave your horse tied up outside a saloon!
Lined with saloons and bars, Front Street used to be a pretty rowdy street. Today, it is one of the friendliest- anchored on one end with the public library and on the other end with candy shops and ice cream. And don’t forget the friendly face of John Breaux – a Louisville resident who was known for biking around town and picking up trash - always with a cheerful smile and wave. He is commemorated with this bronze statue that welcomes residents and visitors to Louisville every day.
How much time have you spent exploring Front St.?
