About us
The Louisville Police Department is dedicated to keeping our community safe. Our officers respond to emergencies, investigate crimes, enforce traffic laws, support victims, and partner with residents and businesses to prevent crime before it happens. We proudly serve everyone who lives, works, and visits Louisville, a Denver‑metro suburban community of about 21,000.
Maintaining Louisville as a safe city is top priority, and Louisville consistently ranks among the safest communities of its size in Colorado.
Emergency Dispatch Services
When you call 911 or the non‑emergency police line, your call is answered by the Boulder Regional Communications Center. This regional center provides emergency dispatch services for police, fire, and medical agencies throughout most of Boulder County, including Louisville.

Police statistics
The Police Stats Dashboard is a great way to stay connected and informed.
The dashboard provides monthly information on:
- Calls for service
- Traffic stops
- Crime-related statistics
You can also explore interactive maps showing where incidents and police activity have occurred throughout the City of Louisville.
The dashboard is designed to provide transparency, keep the community informed, and help residents better understand public safety trends in our city.
Fingerprinting
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has implemented a Statewide Digital Fingerprinting Process. Anyone needing fingerprinting appointments will have to register online.
Patrol and Investigations
Uniformed patrol officers respond to calls for help and requests from citizens. About half of a patrol officer’s time is spent on non‑criminal matters, such as locating missing children, helping with medical emergencies, or handling traffic accidents. Patrol officers also enforce traffic laws, assist with some code enforcement, and give crime‑prevention presentations.
Detectives handle follow‑up investigations for more serious cases, including deaths, assaults, child abuse, sexual assaults, robberies, burglaries, major thefts, fraud, credit card and check crimes, arson, fugitives, major vandalism, and drug‑related offenses. Learn more about our Critical Incident Investigative Team.
Code Enforcement
This division is responsible for enforcing the City’s municipal code. Its' work includes handling issues such as parking violations, abandoned vehicles, overgrown weeds, and stray dogs. Code officers' partner with residents and local businesses to help ensure that everyone follows City ordinances.
Because it is better for people to correct problems on their own rather than face penalties, the department created its Courtesy Notice program in 1994. The program has been very successful: more code violations are being identified and cited, and a greater number of people choose to comply voluntarily.
To report a code issue, please contact the main office at (303) 666-8634.
