Preschool Resources

Use these resources to help your child build routines, complete required forms, and get support when needed.

Complete Required Forms in ePACT

Our preschool uses ePACT Network for health, safety, and emergency information. Families enrolled in preschool will get an email from ePACT. Complete each child’s required paperwork. Save your ePACT username and password. You may need to update your account during the school year. A common update is adding a new person authorized to pick up your child.

Practice Goodbyes at Home

Drop-off can be hard, especially at the start of the school year. A calm and steady routine can help your child feel safe. It may take time, but drop-off often gets easier with practice.

When your child is calm, talk about what will happen at drop-off.

You can say:

“First, we will walk to your classroom. Then I will give you a big hug. Then I will say goodbye and come back after class is over.”

You can also use a special handshake, hug, or short phrase, such as “You’ve got this,” to help your child feel ready.

Keep Drop-Off Short

A simple routine can make drop-off easier.

Try to:

  • Use the same goodbye each day
  • Tell your child when you will come back
  • Stay calm and confident
  • Leave after saying goodbye
  • Let teachers help your child join the class

Pick Up Tips

A warm pick-up helps your child feel proud of their day. Celebrate small wins, such as making a friend, finishing an art project, or being brave at drop-off.

This helps your child feel good about school and look forward to coming back.

Questions to Ask After Preschool

On the way home, ask clear and simple questions. This can help your child talk about their day.

You can ask:

  • What was the best part of your day?
  • Who did you play with?
  • What was your favorite thing about playing outside?
  • What songs did you sing?
  • What stories did your teacher read today?

Some children need extra help with routines, anxiety, or big feelings. These resources may help families support children at home and at school.

Why Regular Attendance Matters

Coming to preschool on a regular schedule helps children feel safe, learn classroom routines, and build skills over time.

Regular attendance helps children:

  • Build social skills by playing, sharing, and taking turns
  • Feel safe with teachers, classmates, and daily routines
  • Stay on track because each day builds on the last
  • Gain confidence as part of the classroom community
  • Practice solving problems with other children
  • Grow communication skills by sharing ideas and listening
  • Learn responsibility as part of a group
  • Build strong habits for kindergarten and beyond

Families can learn more about the importance of routines through this 9 News interview with Dr. Rosemarie Allen. The interview shares practical tips for creating routines that are helpful and enjoyable for children.
