Harper Lake Boat Permits

Harper Lake is located inside the Leon Wurl Wildlife Sanctuary in Louisville, Colorado. The lake was first built in the 1890s and expanded in 1985. It covers 29 acres and is one of three water storage areas for the City of Louisville. Amenities include parking, a restroom, an interpretive kiosk, and an art installation in the McCaslin underpass.

Boating at Harper Lake

Motorless boating is allowed on Harper Lake with an annual permit.

  • Boat permits (ages 12+) are sold online from April 1 through September 30 each year.
  • The boating season begins May 1.
  • The season ends when the first ice forms on the lake.
  • Permits are valid only for the current calendar year. Your online receipt serves as a temporary permit until your official permit arrives by mail.
  • Swimming, wading, and any bodily contact with the water are not allowed.
  • Paddle boards are not allowed at Harper Lake. Places to Paddle Board in Colorado.
