Recreation and Senior Center Playground Replacement and Resurfacing

Work will soon be underway to replace the playground equipment and safety surfacing at the Recreation & Senior Center's outdoor playground. The area will close when construction begins the week of 9/14. We anticipate an approximately 1-month long closure, with the playground scheduled to reopening in mid-October.  Please respect closure notices and stay tuned for details about a ribbon cutting celebration.  

This project continues a multi-year effort to update playground infrastructure across the city.  The Recreation & Senior Center playground is one of the three oldest, along with Memory Square Park and Community Park.  Playground replacement will resolve numerous issues with broken features that are unable to be replaced, comply with current safety and accessibility criteria, and provide better service for the center's youth programming such as the pre-school and summer day camp programs.
