CAPRA Accredited

In September 2026, the City of Louisville's Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department earned national accreditation through the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA), joining fewer than 3% of park and recreation agencies nationwide to achieve this distinction.

CAPRA accreditation is the only national accreditation program for park and recreation agencies and recognizes excellence in operations, management and community services. To earn this designation, Louisville demonstrated compliance with 154 nationally recognized standards covering areas such as planning, administration, facilities, programs, safety and resource management.

This achievement reflects the City's commitment to accountability, continuous improvement and providing high-quality parks, recreation opportunities and open spaces for the community.
