Historic preservation

Louisville's history is part of what makes our community special. Historic preservation helps protect important buildings and places while allowing them to continue serving our community.

Louisville has a voluntary historic preservation program. Property owners choose whether to apply for landmark designation. The program recognizes buildings and places with historic or architectural value and offers financial incentives to help preserve them. Today, more than 69 local landmarks are part of the program.
