Ecology, gardening, & wildlife
Why it matters
Louisville is home to hundreds of plants, insects, and wildlife that support a healthy, balanced ecosystem. From pollinators that sustain our gardens and food systems, to native birds and mammals that maintain our local biodiversity, protecting our environment is key to building a more resilient community.
What we're doing
We're committed to supporting pollinators, protecting habitat, and encouraging wildlife-friendly practices across our public and private spaces. Some key focus areas include:
- Pollinators and insects. Supporting bees, butterflies, and other vital pollinators through gardens, pathways, and habitat care.
- Wildlife and habitat. Learning how we can protect and restore our natural areas and promote coexistence with local wildlife.
- Research and monitoring. Seeing how data collection and regional partnerships can guide our future conservation efforts.
