How to get a refund

  1. Look for a letter from us to your address as listed by the county assessor. Staff has reviewed permit records and County Assessor data to determine eligibility and is mailing letters to those eligible in early August 2026. Fill out the letter as directed and mail the signed letter back to City Hall (pre-paid postage included).
  2. We will review your response, follow up if needed, and process the refund (unless you choose to opt out).

Wildfire Mitigation Fund

Residents may choose to opt out of their refund, and the amount will be placed in the Wildfire Mitigation Fund at their July 21, 2026 meeting. City Council established the Wildfire Mitigation Fund for programs such as incentivizing home hardening and/or defensible space in the Marshall Fire rebuild area.

What if I didn’t get a letter?

If you have not received a letter by August 21 and believe you are eligible, please email Planning@LouisvilleCO.gov with your name, the property address, current contact information, and your building permit number

What if I haven’t applied for a building permit yet?

This refund program will remain open through December 31, 2028, aligning with other Louisville Marshall Fire Funding Opportunities (more information here). When you apply for your building permit, staff will determine eligibility for this program and apply a credit.
